Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Calton Hill is compact and can be enjoyed in as little as 30–45 minutes if you're just snapping photos and taking in the views. To climb the Nelson Monument, visit the Observatory café and properly soak up the atmosphere, allow 1.5–2 hours. It's an ideal stop for a morning or late-afternoon wander, especially combined with a walk down Leith Walk or along the Water of Leith.
